Hygiene

Good hygiene habits are more than washing your hands. We should get into good routines to help to keep us safe and healthy. Each person is individual and not all of these may apply to you.

Washing your Hair

In your teens, hormonal effects of puberty begin to take hold, which can mean making your hair greasy. Washing your hair with shampoo may be necessary every other day.

Oral Hygiene

Clean teeth and gums can prevent a wide range of health issues, including bad breath and cavities. It is recommended that you should brush and floss at least twice per day.

What is Deodorant?

Sweat starts to become body odour at different ages, but it often starts around 9 or 10 years old. It is important to wash under your arms, especially after sports practice. Deodorant controls bacteria and adds scent, while an anti-perspirant also helps to minimise sweating.

PE Lessons

PE kit needs to be washed every week and not left in your lockers. This will help to prevent odour and bacteria spreading. Tights and socks need to be replaced after physical activity to keep your feet healthy.

Shower v Bath?

Both showers and baths have pretty brilliant health and wellbeing benefits.

Nails

Fingernails are a breeding ground for bacteria. The germs that live under your nails can easily transfer to your eyes, nose, and mouth.  A weekly clipping will help get rid of dirt and reduce the possibility of painful ingrown nails.
